When driving becomes writing – iQ font

iQ font – When driving becomes writing / Full making of from wireless on Vimeo.

Seems Toyota are really jumping in to this social media thing with both feet while also pushing the boat out with some funky digital innovation. I love this iQ font idea, its execution is simple yet brilliant and the fact that there’s a tangible product at the end that everyone can download and use makes it even more appealing. The site even has a further feature where you can design a t-shirt using the iQ font and be in with a chance of wining concert tickets, provided your design stands out in the gallery that is.

Not forgetting Toyota Ireland who are now tweeting and who recently gave Irish bloggers a chance to test drive the Toyota iQ for 6 months on condition that they tweet/blog their experiences. The closing date for applications has now passed but be sure that Achgohairithe’s application was such that it cant be ignored so expect my tweets to become much more motoring related in the near future!!

Do you have what it takes to make it in to the Swedish Armed Forces?

An absolutely amazing recruitment site for the Swedish armed forces. I failed miserably but have a bash and let me know if you make the grade.

To Blog or to Twitter?

To Blog or to Twitter

After many false dawns and promises of redesigns etc I’ve decided that things were actually pretty good as they were. Actually its been doing my nut in trying to get and modify a WP theme to a point that im happy for it to be the new face of AGH. So I’ve decided to carry on using the existing light theme for now. I had to rip out all plugins and update my WP and DB but things seem to be hanging together a bit better now. As you may have noticed some of the nifty features are no more but it was a them or better performance and load time. I’ll look at getting some of them back up and running over the next few weeks.

Thanks for sticking out the rough times people but with things a bit more settled now AGH should be back with more Where in the World Wednesdays, more Friday Caption Competitions, more Reign of Terror letters, more Dingle for your Dangle, more Sport, more gigs, more giving out..especially more giving out….

Ive also tentatively dipped my toe into the world of Twitter.
Will the AGH twitter take over from the AGH blog?
Who knows!!

Its time to In Fact, Ahhh Say Goodbye!

Friday, June 15th, 2007

I was very sorry to read in my RSS inbox this morning that the lads over at In Fact, Ah have decided to call it a day! I had to read the post twice and check the date to make sure it wasn’t some kind of hoax, but unfortunately it looks to be genuine.

In Fact, Ah
The In Fact, Ah lads pictured this year at their annual ‘back to nature’ day.

I only know a few of the IFA lads but it was PMC himself who introduced me to blogging well over a year ago now and id like to take this opportunity to thank him and all the IFA lads for their posts, links, support, referrals, videos (Who could forget the Dunphy video) etc.

They had a good innings (2005 to 2007) and hopefully this is only a short hiatus from the blogsphere. I don’t know if it’s Blogger fatigue or global warming or what but more and more of the older more established blogs seem to be wrapping up, I myself had to re-examine things when i hit the year mark. But, we can take hope in the return of Gavin’s blog, in so much that if Gavin can come back anyone can come back….right?

NTL and Blogspot

NTL

NTL broadband seems to be blocking access to all .blogspot sites. They refuse to accept that the problem is on their side but it’s clear that the only common factor with all these people is that they are on the NTL service. Feel free to contact them (customer.support@upc.ie : 1800 234 234) and draw their attention to this problem.

More chatter about this over on TM here and here.

If you really need to access a .blogspot site you can use ninjasproxy.

Update 06.03.07 (from http://status.blogger.com/):

“We’re investigating network issues between Blog*Spot and a handful of British and Irish ISPs. Apologies to those who are affected and are unable to read blogs hosted at blogspot.com. There is no known workaround at this time.

Update, 4:25PM:
We’ve instituted our own network workaround for this issue, which should resolve the problem for affected users. We’re following up with the ISPs to diagnose the root problem.

Update, Monday, 9:30AM:
We’re hearing further reports that this problem is not solved, and there are indications that there is a misconfiguration in the affected ISPs’ routes. We appreciate your patience as we work with them to get this fixed for good.”

Bate all that we have to hear about a problem with our BB provider from a Blogging service in the states. NTL suck ass!

The Rasterbator
[A life size Joe Deane poster made using The Rasterbator]

Was sent a link to this handy little app not so long ago. The Rasterbator is a web service which creates huge, rasterized images from any picture. The rasterized images can be printed and assembled into extremely cool looking posters up to 20 meters in size. You can download the The Rasterbator app or rasterized you image online. Also have a look at the gallery to see how people have used this app to create some pretty nifty wall-art.
