Ireland’s most expensive…petrol station?

Petrol

Not sure if this is still the most expensive petrol station in Ireland. Genuine picture taken at the Usher’s Island/Quay Statoil rip-off station.
Can anyone top €1.64? Oh and don’t forget the .9, I love the .9

Update: 30/07/07
Seems this daylight robbery has not gone unnoticed. The Business Post have all d’info in this article.

Garda and fuel card discount confirmed:
“Customers, including Garda vehicles and ambulances, who use their cards at the station, are charged at the average price of about €1.18 a litre.”

“Topaz, the company behind the Statoil and Shell brands, will consider not renewing its contract with the most expensive petrol station in the country…could not force the station to reduce its price, but could decide not to renew its contract when it expired, forcing the station to buy its fuel from another company.

“The station is located along one of the busiest routes in the country and is the first petrol station for many motorists coming off the ferry at Dublin Port. It is one of the only petrol stations in Dublin city centre.”

“Dublin businessman Hugh Farrington, who has property interests and lives in Dalkey, owns the Usher’s Quay station through his company QEC… According to Topaz, Farrington charges so much for fuel because he claims to have higher overheads because of where his station is located.”

It’s mental isn’t it? I’ve been told that it is the petrol station contracted to supply the garda cars fuel (or some other state body, but I think it’s the gardai) so they don’t have to worry about being competitive.

So while you don’t have to go in there and by your petrol they’re still getting the taxpayers cash. Bastards!

Someone was telling me that they are contracted to supply the garda cars (or some state dept. anyways)with fuel so they don’t have to worry about being comepetitive.
So you don’t have to buy your fuel there but the bastards’ll still get your money from the government, absolutely shocking stuff, shocking I tell ya.
If it’s true. Which I think it is.

Or else I’m schizophrenic and my alter ego wanted to have his shpake as well.
    No you’re not.

Well then who the hell are you?
    I’m you.

Fuggers…one thing i did notice was that it was very quiet. Tourists filling up their hire cars and not much else.

Oh and double posting is fine by me Johnny, you and your many split personalities are very welcome….

  5. Company cars refuel on Usher’s Quay and pay no more than EUR 1.21 per litre at the moment. You set a price to constrain the queue because company cars need to stay moving.

Really?? I did not know that….interesting…

  7. Dave says:

I could fill up there for 111.43c yesterday. All you have to do is have a Statoil Fuel card which guarantees you a cheap prices anywhere in the country.

The guards would have a similar deal going.

Danny Murray, chief executive of Topaz the company behind the Statoil and Shell brands, said “I would not buy [petrol] there”. Adding, “What I would say to people is to buy just two litres there if you have to, and fill up somewhere else.” He said he could not force the station to reduce its price, but could decide not to renew its contract when it expired, forcing the station to buy its fuel from another company.

It’s great to have a fuel card.
I got one from the BBC years ago.
    Sometimes I leave the motor parked ticking over all night;
‘cos you never know when the golly-wogs are gonna start talking trash, and when they do, and when it’s time to battle, IT’S ON.
Me and BigEars have been handling business for ages like, not just two geeks off the street, we gotta be pretty handy with the steel if you know what I mean.
